The highly anticipated game which is the 6th installment in the hugely popular Resident Evil series has slowly been leaking out information and screens over the last number of weeks. This release shows a lot of action shots against some of the games monsters. The game which is due out this year will be a definite purchase for fans of the game and/or genre. Here are the new screens from Resident Evil 6.

These screenshots do make the game look graphically impressive. The previous game in the series, Resident Evil 5 was announced much further ahead of time and looked to be one of the best looking games of all time before that point. When it was finally released in early 2009 it was still able to claim that title. Once again it seems that Capcom has stepped up their game. The level of detail, especially in the environments is incredibly impressive. The character models as well, while partially obscured by the darkness, do look detailed, that is if those are from an ingame model rather than a pre-rendered cutscene.

If one fault can be seen with the screenshots, its that the game looks way too grey. The last five photos which are set in an outside area, are devoid of any other colour besides the red on the enemy's tentacle. Some of the city shots taken at night look more colourful. The signs on the wall and the raging glow of the fire looks to bring as much colour as expected in a city street at night.

In terms of control and gameplay, little can be extracted beyond the fact that is looks to keep the over-the-shoulder gameplay from the previous two installments. While Resident Evil 4 was praised for innovatation and rejuvenation of a dying gameplay style by pulling the camera down to a closer, 3rd person perspective, its sequel was not. In fact many attacked Resident Evil 5's 'tank controls' saying that in the newer generation of games, you should have been allowed to move and shoot at the same time. People wanted a control scheme which similarly matched the series move away from horror, and instead having action based controls in what had become an action game. Now with Resident Evil 6 fast approaching, people are waiting to play the game and try it out for themselves. It has already been confirmed that the series isn't going back to its slow paced roots, instead being a blend of the best parts of the prior two games.

All we can do for now is wait while we're drip-fed information, a demo has already been confirmed and you can even play it early if you invest in a new copy of Dragon's Dogma for the Xbox 360.
