Wars 2, the highly anticipated MMO coming from ArenaNet currently set to release sometime in 2012, has released some information about the beta even that they had recently. The director, Mike O’Brien, in a post on ArenaNet’s website said the the numbers of pre-order players who got to partake in the beta were in the “hundreds of thousands”. This is great news indeed, not only for ArenaNet, but for MMO players the world over hoping that something new happens in the genre sometime soon.

As we come to the inevitable end of this console generation, it can be a time to reflect back on where each company made their mistakes. Many have attributed the slow start of the PS3 to the lack of strong exclusives and unwillingness of the public to adopt Blu-Ray. Fast forward to 2009 and many were predicting that Sony would not only catchup, but over take the sales of the Xbox 360. Sony continued to employ strategies like price cuts and the more frequent release of new exclusives, but the sales never over took their main competitor. Not only have Sony had to remain in third place for the entire generation, but they have been posting continual annual losses, with this year's being a particularly large hit to the company.

Reports are coming in that Microsoft has been testing Internet Explorer 9 for Xbox 360. Even though Microsoft is a little bit behind in the game console browser market, it is said that you will be able to use Kinect as a browser tool. The Kinect sensor is not going to be a necessity for the application, but being able to browse the internet by voice alone sounds pretty fun to me.

While we are still disappointed about the several month delay of Bioshock Infinite, two release dates of two other games have been announced, and will both be before the end of this year. Many games are hoping to take the crown at Christmas this year. Condenters like Call of Duty, FIFA, Halo and Assassin's Creed will battle it out to take the top sales spot come November. However, new non-annual challengers have arrived such as Tomb Raider, The Last of Us, Hitman Absolution and Bioshock Infinite, games like these have been anticipated for over a year and have already won awards stated them as the titles to watch. However, one of those games won't make it to release this year, Irrational games have announced that Bioshock Infinite has been delayed until 2013.

EA have recently given a statement revealing what games could be on the cards for the next 12 months. According to EA we can expect to see the usual sporting titles, such as FIFA and Madden NFL, as well as the next Medal of Honour, Need for Speed and the highly anticipated Dead Space. Not too many details have been revealed about the former titles but the latter is receiving a lot of attention.

Earlier today Sony announced their plans to release the new Crystal White Vita in Japan, as well as a special Hatsune Miku Vita. In addition to this (somewhat) exciting news, a teaser for the upcoming Soul Sacrifice has been released. Yes, I know, this sounds pretty mundane, but if you own a Vita then you should be jumping up and down at the prospect of a new game actually coming out for it.
