In a market where only 1-2% on new Intellectual Properties really succeed, Darksiders was a massive success, and with good reason.
The game is extremely similar with the Legend of Zelda series, the later titles in particular. But Developer Vigil Games - from whom this is thier first title- don't try to hide this though, or cash in on a rip-off, rather citing the game as a major influence and creating what some could call a tribute. But in reality, Darksiders is its own mammoth of a game, and should be looked at as such.

Taking the role of War, one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, players must navigate a war town post-apocalyptic Earth after being accused of disrupting the balance of good and evil and bringing about the war to end all wars. War has to search for the answers he seeks and find out who betrayed him and why.
Gameplay is delivered via a hack-n-slash mechanic, making great use of special items, weapons and tools the player will find throughout the game. Action is fast-paced and extremely, similar to that in games like God of War and Price of Persia. The game also allows players to upgrade and gain new abilities during the campaign.

The story takes War through all manners of environments and dungeons, fighting bosses and exploring the scenery to find secrets and useful items. The gameplay will all be very familiar to anyone who’s played through a Zelda title post-Ocarina of Time.
Darksiders was released in January 2010 and has a planned sequel set for release in 2013. Developer Vigil Games is currently working on Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online, a PC MMORPG set for 2012.
