The critically acclaimed indie game has been a great commercial success. The action-RPG game developed by Sugergiant Games was released by on XBLA in July and on Steam in August, where it was received as a refreshing unique experience. The total sales from both sources surpassed 500,000. The company recently announced the sales details on its blog. Supergiant Games also noted that recent price cuts and sales promotion, due to the holiday season, aided them in reaching that astronomical benchmark.

Bastion has been regarded quite highly for its beautiful art style and simple but fulfilling gameplay mechanics. The game follows The Kid as he traverses through his world after a catastrophic event. Along the way, he finds other survivors that help shape his experience and provide addition plot points.

At its core, Bastian is a dungeon crawling action-RPG with great customization and a scaling difficult, making it easy for players to become engrossed in The Kid’s tale. The most unique feature about Bastion is the ever-present narrator who intently describes every decision that the player makes. Overall gamers loved the approach Sugergiant Games took to their title.

"We're happy to have this many people playing and to be in a position to make more games on our own terms," said the writer/creative director for Bastion, Greg Kasavin.

On the same post, Greg Kasavin also noted the numerous awards, totaling over 55, which Bastion had received from several news and games outlets. These outlets include IGN, The Associated Press, Wired, CNN, Giant Bomb and NPR just to name a few.

"When we set out to make Bastion, a sales number like that seemed astronomical to us, so it feels great to have hit that mark. It goes to show that a lot of folks out there like what we're doing and want us to keep going, which is great, because we intend to stick together as a team and do just that."

The only unfortunate point for gamers is that if they do not have either a PC or Xbox (hard to believe) there are still no plans to bring the Supergiant Games title to the PS3. The game, however, was just released on the Google Chrome Web Store so there may be some hope still. Nonetheless, Bastion is a must have for any gamer who wants to be on the forefront of new game ideas and devices.
