Pokémon is one of the biggest franchises of all time and it is no surprise to see that it will get a dedicated section on the Nintendo Zone. The section will include screens, game videos and the coveted television series. The dedicated section will go live on February 6th.

Here is a snippet of what they had to say about the new updates.

"Nintendo 3DS continues to deliver fun and engaging new experiences, especially for users who connect their systems to the Internet," said Zach Fountain, Nintendo of America's director of Strategic Partnerships. "Nintendo 3DS is our most connected system ever, and Nintendo Zone offers a wealth of exclusive content to users who take their systems with them when they are away from home."

"Nintendo Zone also includes trivia games featuring the latest Nintendo 3DS software, exclusive coupons available only at Best Buy for discounts on Nintendo 3DS games and a showcase of Nintendo 3DS games that includes videos, screen shots and one-click links to game websites. The Pokémon section will also include information and videos about the newest Pokémon video games, Pokémon Trading Card Game and Pokémon news."

Since its original release, Pokémon has been Nintendo’s flagship title and is easily utilised to sell systems. With the 3DS reaching its one year anniversary, many are wondering when a traditional Pokémon title will be announce. The release schedule for the main handheld Pokémon series usually follows the pattern of a dual release (Ruby and Sapphire for example), the following year sees an upgrade game that has a full roster. (In this case it was Emerald) Then a remake of a much old game is made, improving the graphical quality to the same standard of the new games and adding features while remaining in the same region as the original. (Like Fire Red and Leaf Green)

By following this pattern, the next game should be Pokémon Grey, a combination of the two previous titles, Black and White. It seems that whenever Pokémon is mentioned, people get their hopes up, but it has only been rewarded by Super Pokémon Rumble and Nobunaga’s Ambition X Pokémon. It maybe that Nintendo is holding out until E3 this year, but it seems that it would be in everybody’s interest to release a new game; it would at least be interesting to see the possibilities with 3D.
