Get your own remixes on the soundtrack for Street Fighter X Tekken!

street_fighter_x_tekkenLast week, social sound platform SoundCloud announced that it has reached a massive 10 million users. Today, Capcom have announced that they will be teaming up with SoundCloud for a UK PR campaign, in which community members will create their own tracks using vocal samples from both Street Fighter and Tekken games. The top shortlisted tracks will then be showcased at the Street Fighter X Tekken launch in London on the 29th of February and one finalist from each game will be picked to battle it out and produce an ultimate winner.

The competition will run through an app on Facebook, developed by Lucid Online's creative team. The mechanic is provided entirely by SoundCloud, using their dropbox system for entries which hooks directly to the app and allows any entered tracks to appear instantly on the page so that other users may listen to it.

Songs may also be submitted via the Facebook page.

The prize for first place, alongside your work being part of the game, will be an Xbox 360 and a selected of signed games. As part of the prize package SoundCloud is also offering a premium account. They are also supporting the remix competition with promotion via all their major digital outlets - Facebook, Tumblr and Twitter.

This kind of promotion offers a great chance for the communities to get involved with their favourite franchises, a step forward that noone (in the right mind) is going to complain about!

Think you have what it takes to win the competition? Just head over to the competition Facebook page and take the first step to getting your work into one of your favourite franchises.

The game itself is, as the name suggests, a merging of Capcom's hugely successful Street Fighter and Tekken franchises. Headlining the cast of this game will be Street Fighter's Ryu and Chun-Li, as well as Tekken's Kazuya Mishima and Nina Williams, as well as a host of other memorable characters to duke it out in a tag battle format. The game is a 2v2 team-based fighting game where players are able to tag in and out between partners at any time, promising to combine the styles of 2D and 3D based fighting games to achieve a fresh take on the genre.

Further, Capcom are making sure that neither fanbase will feel cheated - an option is included in the game to either play with Street Fighter's traditional 6 button layout or Tekken's 4 button layout.

Street Fighter X Tekken will be available for preorder from the 6th March, ahead of it's due release date in the UK on the 9th March 2012 on PS3 and Xbox 360, with a PC release at a later date. If you want to find out more information on the game, visit their website.
