Those of you who know me or have read my articles probably know that if there's one genre of video games that can get me excited, it's fighting games. It was quite a treat when I had the opportunity to correspond with Reverge Labs about its upcoming game, Skullgirls. In this interview I spoke with Mike “Mike Z” Zaimont and Alex “o_8” Ahad about their upcoming title. Mike’s the Lead Designer and Lead Programmer, and Alex is the creator of the IP and the Creative Director of the game.

From the minds of Andrew James and Ed Orman comes new development team Uppercut-Games. Those of you scratching your head, wondering why you should care about the upstart game development studio - wonder no more. The folks behind Uppercut-Games have a wonderful résumé of games under their belts, such as Bioshock, Fallout: Tactics, XCOM and their upcoming iOS game, Epoch. Luckily, I was fortunate enough to get to speak with Ed Orman and pick his brain for some interesting details on Epoch, which is rumored to be slated for release in the fourth quarter of this year.

It’s no secret that the GamerGaia team enjoy Rusty Hearts, and we’re going to guess that if you've gotten a closed beta key you are too. So, to continue on our string of Rusty Hearts coverage, Tina Lauro and I spoke with Mark Hill, game producer for Rusty Hearts, and gained some further insight on Rusty the game through interesting answers to questions surrounding the design choices that Perfect World Entertainment took with the title and the details of the closed beta.

UTV Ignition is known for high-quality games such as Deadly Premonition and Blacklight: Tango Down. Luckily, I managed to catch up with Ignition's Director of Business and Marketing Shane Bettenhausen at the Los Angeles Anime Expo this July 3. Bettenhausen was kind enough to field a few questions about Ignition's upcoming dreamlike action-platformer, El Shaddai; he attributed El Shaddai's warm reception at the convention to the game's deep roots in anime and explained why El Shaddai is aiming for a unique treatment of Christian mythology rather than simply "selling" the religion.
