Call of Duty Elite Beta Closes
The Call of Duty Elite beta has closed down today in anticipation of the release of Modern Warfare 3 and the full service in a few weeks. The beta allowed gamers to take a look at the features that they would be able to access when the full service launches in November. Activision and Beachhead have confirmed that beta stats will carry over. Check out the news below.
Modern Warfare 3 will be the next entry into the highly-popular Modern Warfare series. The Modern Warfare series has become a staple in the video game industry as one of the biggest and best multiplayer experiences and Activision wanted to make sure that that portion of the experience wasn’t overlooked.
Call of Duty Elite is a stat-tracking and community service that will allow gamers to link their Call of Duty multiplayer experiences together and to connect with their friends and fellow gamers. The base service will be free to all players however; there will be some features that gamers will need to pay for if they want to include them.
Activision and Beachhead Studio (the people who made the Elite service) had a beta test to work out the kinks in the system, using Call of Duty: Black Ops as the base game. The beta went well but now that the real deal is coming out in a couple of weeks, Activision is ending the beta test. As of 12 PM PST today, the beta went off line. The Connect, Compete and Improve sections of the service are all closed down, however, the Career page will be re-opening soon, allowing gamers to access their Black Ops stats when it does.
Activision released this statement today to thank gamers for their participation in the beta.
Call of Duty Elite will be launching in its entirety on November 8th, alongside with Modern Warfare 3. Gamers can access many functions for free or pay for the full service. Check back here for more news on the Call of Duty franchise.
