It’s no secret that the Uncharted series is one of the most successful and highly revered franchises in gaming. With each game Naughty Dog seems to up the ante and produce something even more amazing then the last, Uncharted 3 looks to be no exception. The game might not be out for a whole other month but we’ve got a all the details you need to get ready for the release.

Campaign

He's back
The Uncharted series is most revered for its storylines and characters. Nathan Drake will once again search for treasure with his pals, avoid dying, and probably do some really crazy stuff along the way. Characters from previous games will also be returning as well as a few new faces we haven’t seen before. One surprise return is Chloe who I never thought I would see ever again. My one hope is that Sully is in this game for the long haul, it was really disappointing when half way through the second game he decides to get out. Sully is like Drakes right hand man, and much of the comic relief. You can’t have a rag tag bunch of treasure hunters without a dirt old cigar smoking man, plus those dress shirts are just plain awesome.
The campaign in Uncharted 3 revolves around the described “Atlantis of the sands”, an ancient city lost to the desert. This fabled city is of course known as Arabia (or Ubar), it is believed to have been destroyed by god or a nature disaster. The city is also fabled to hold treasure of immeasurable wealth, which is probably why Nathan and the gang want to go after it. It’s probably why the villains want it too. As always people can’t share, and they get into fights.

She merely wants whats hers...even if it isn't
There has been speculation on many things in Uncharted 3. One that I found rather interesting is the idea spreading around the net that Elena might be pregnant based on some things she said in a previous trailer. If Elena is pregnant wouldn’t that mean the end of the Uncharted series? After Nathan would surely be the father and thus he would probably have to get tied to down to support that family. No more treasure hunting for you good sir. However this idea is kind of a stretch. I don’t actually see anything like this happening any time soon especially if Naughty Dog wants to keep this franchise going.
Multiplayer

Multiplayer is back, and bigger than ever
If you got a hold of an early access multiplayer pass, you are probably playing the multiplayer right now. The multiplayer mode in Uncharted 3 is a huge improvement over the last game. Customizable characters have been introduced, as well as a slew of new modes, unlockables, and much more.
The game now features load outs which let you customize your class. Load outs let you select your various boosters, weapons, and medal kick backs. Players can even spend their game earned money on new accessories for their characters. While playing matches each kill you receive or special acts you accomplish give you medals which are worth money. This money is accumulated as experience and enters your in game wallet. You can spend this fake money on new weapons, mods, skins, accessories, boosters, characters, co-op upgrades, and so much more. In fact there is so much to unlock in Uncharted 3 multiplayer it’s hard to say whether or not it is even physically possible to unlock it all.

Drakes on a plane! ...haaaaaaa
A new edition to the multiplayer is kick back medals. After collecting a certain amount of medals in one match you will be able to use your medal kick back. These act as types of rewards for good game play, medal kick backs include the ability to give yourself an RPG or more health at anytime. Multiplayer characters have been upgraded as well with whole new levels of customizability. Back in the Uncharted 2 days, you picked a character skin and that was about it. In Uncharted 3 you unlock a specific character and then it’s up to you. You can keep that character the way they are or you can buy new outfits, hats and accessories to give your character a little extra bling.
Another cool feature in Uncharted 3 multiplayer is Uncharted TV. Uncharted TV gives you spectator access to games going on right now, top clips of the week, behind the scenes videos, and much more. Uncharted TV can easily be accessed at anytime in multiplayer menus, even while you wait for games to load. It’s a good way to pass the time especially when you have those days where matches just don’t want to load fast enough.

Like recent multiplayer games, Uncharted has adopted the spawn on buddy system. If you are in a party with some of your friends it will automatically select one of those people to be your buddy. If at any point in the match you die but your buddy has not you will have the option to respawn near him, granted he is in a safe environment.
A new mode showcased in the multiplayer portion of the game is called “Hardcore”. Hardcore is a mode that doesn’t let you use boosters or radar, you are all on your own. This mode sounded appealing initially except for the fact that you have more health. Don’t you think that in a game mode called Hardcore you would have little or no health. Nevertheless this mode will attract certain players.
Game play

Ruuun Duuuude!
Based on what I’ve played of Uncharted 3 it feels slightly slower. While this isn’t a bad thing it’s a little strange having just come off many hours of Uncharted 2 multiplayer, other then that the game still feels like classic Uncharted and you’re still climbing up stuff like a monkey man just like previous titles. New guns have been released and Uncharted 3 looks to have the largest arsenal in the series. On one the new weapons had shown off in the GamesCom demo shows us a silenced pistol. While this wasn’t used in a stealth setting it makes me wonder if there will be stealth areas in Uncharted 3 like there were in Uncharted 2.

One new game play element I couldn’t help but get excited about is tackling. While it might seem like a really minor thing to get excited about, it’s just really awesome. It fixes a lot of problems with the single player campaign in terms of game play and adds more combat options for us to play with.
The Uncharted series has always been cinematic in style and game play but this one looks to be the most cinematic experience to date. Some portions of the game look like they don’t even have game play to them, yet they do.
Hype
If you own a PlayStation 3 you should be hyped about this game. Uncharted has proven over the years that it is a flagship title for the PlayStation brand. Uncharted 3 looks to be the best the series has to offer. Uncharted s set to release exclusively for the PlayStation 3 on November 1st, 2011.
